KEC International gets major orders

KEC International Ltd. (KEC) has won three new orders to the tune of Rs. 379 crore. The first PGCIL order is for the supply and construction of 765 KV double circuit transmission line between Jharsuguda pooling station and Dharamjaygarh. This is associated with phase-I generation projects in Orissa. The total value of this order is Rs. 173 crore.

The second PGCIL order is for supply and construction of 765 kV single circuit transmission line between Satna – Charkhari. These transmission lines are associated with Rihand – III & Vindhyachal – IV in Madhya Pradesh. The total order value is Rs. 166 crore.

The company has got breakthrough order in Balance of Plant segment by securing a Rs. 40 crore contract in Chhattisgarh from NMDC limited. The scope of work includes construction & commissioning of 132/33/6.6/0.433 kV power supply system including civil and structural works, ventilation & air conditioning system, fire fighting and fire detection system etc. on turnkey basis. Total contract period is for nine months. KEC International Ltd. has also won 3 orders in substation segment to the tune of Rs. 980 crore from Kazakhstan Electricity Grid Operating Company (KEGOC) and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL).

The two orders received from KEGOC are for the execution, including rehabilitation, of total 38 substations spread across the North East and South of Kazakhstan. The first order is for 21 substations of voltage levels of 1150 KV, 500 KV & 220 KV. The second order is for 17 substations of voltage levels 500 KV, 220 KV & 110 KV. These orders will be executed over a period of 33 months. The orders have been received in a consortium with a local Company. The total value of these orders is Rs. 942 crore. This is the biggest ever order in the Substation segment of KEC.

Another order, worth Rs. 38 crore, has been secured from PGCIL for supply and construction of 400 KV substation at Baharampur, West Bengal. This is the second 400 KV substation order received by the Company from PGCIL this financial year.

Earlier in December, 2010 company announced that they have won new orders to the tune of Rs. 1,018 crore. In the transmission segment, the company has secured 3 orders for 765 kV transmission lines construction. The orders are from Rajasthan Rajya Vidyut Prasaran Nigam (RRVPN, India), Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL, India) & Eskom (South Africa).

The RRVPN order is for construction of 765 kV Transmission line between Anta (Baran) – Phagi (Jaipur) on turnkey basis. This is the 1st 765KV transmission line being constructed by any state utility in India. Total order value is Rs. 313 crore.

The PGCIL order is for the supply & construction of 765 kV single circuit transmission line between Angul – Jharsugud Pooling Station (Jharsuguda end) associated with transmission system strengthening of Phase-I Generation Projects in Orissa. Total order value is Rs. 130 crore. The Eskom order is for construction of 765 kV transmission line between Gamma – Kappa on turnkey basis in South Africa. Total order value is Rs. 97 crore.

In addition to above, KEC’s wholly owned subsidiary SAE Towers has secured Rs. 246 crore supply orders in Americas. This represents transmission tower orders from U.S., Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina worth Rs. 208 crore and transmission line related hardwares orders from Brazil worth Rs. 38 crore.

In the railway segment, the company has secured various orders for civil works from Indian Railways worth Rs. 97 crore. In cable segment, company has secured supply orders for Telecom Cables, Low Tension, High Tension & Extra High Voltage Power Cables from various customers worth Rs. 135 crore.
