Gauder Group: One-stop Integrated Supplier

Gauder 1Since 1976, the Gauder Group has delivered new and resale solutions to the wire, cable and fiber optic industries. Founded by Mr. Edgar Gauder, the group has facilities located at Belgium, France, USA and China with the total workforce of over 250 people. The Gauder Group is composed of POURTIER and SETIC (France), GAUDER (Belgium), Gauder Group China and Gauder Group USA. In an interaction with Mr. Christian PAVAILLER, Sales Manager, Gauder Group, he briefed us about the low cost solutions, their strategy, presence in India, USP, innovation etc.

Strategy

As a “one-stop integrated supplier”, Gauder Group moves forward with its dynamic expansion staging a three axis strategy

• To develop and market technically advanced machines in manu-facturing systems for energy, low, medium and high voltage power cable, telecommunication and multimedia and special purpose cables.

• To maintain and develop availability of a large, modern stock in resale machinery for the wire, cable and fiber optic cable industries.

• To maintain and develop a world-wide service presence.

Gauder in India

We have appointed Mr. Lakshmy-narayanan as our local technical representative in India and he is in contact with all our customers there. Indian market is expected to be one of our best markets in the coming years. We are also checking how to open a service centre around Mumbai, nothing officially has been decided but it is in the planning process for future.

Strategy for the Indian market

India is a huge country, so I would say that our strategy is of course to increase our market share mainly by innovation, where we can compete by innovating and making something that our competitors are not able to do it today. Among the main rotating machines cable companies across the world, Gauder Group is in the top ranking with its POURTIER high voltage cable machines and SETIC LAN cable equipment. Both companies offer a wide range of bunchers, stranders and cablers. We are leaders in second-hand machines for cable works and manufacture of wires. To achieve a higher level of performance and extended lifetime of the machines, we provide a comprehensive range of after sales services & spare parts, as well as a dedicated high technology bows department.

Low Cost Solutions

I would first say that Indian market like many other markets is now very focused on low cost solutions and what I mean by low cost solution is that limited performance at very cheap price. Gauder Group has decided to start low cost division with the name Daloo and it is fully owned by Gauder Group. It is another division making stranding and rotating machines with limited performance in terms of speed, and flexibility but with the same level of reliability as manufactured in POURTIER division. The investment level in Daloo as compared to POURTIER is around 50% but the quality and the lifetime is same. So these low cost solutions will help us to compete in the low cost segment of the Indian market and serve many customers looking for low cost solutions.

Gauder’s USP: Service to the Customers

Our after sales strategy for the wire and cable industry acts as an overall efficiency booster for continuous improvement and lean tuning. We help our customer’s to maximize their productivity. A proper planning and control of spare parts inventory is a key component to minimize downtime and avoid excessive costs. We have dedicated technicians, travelling sales engineers and office sales assistants who are ready for intervention. Our comprehensive stock is defined with easy wearing parts and lead time factor. In an emergency, an efficient logistics network assures worldwide delivery. The on-site analysis by our engineering department enables to provide recommendations for the appropriate technology upgrades, including follow up, to help ensure that the equipment performance improves and is maintained. We also provide a complete technical check-up in our fully equipped workshop that enables to re-condition the machine and restore its productivity and product quality throughout its lifetime.

Innovation is future

Innovation is really important for sustaining in future as a lot of competition is arising from across the globe whether from developed or developing economies. So innovating is an ongoing process at Gauder group and we introduce different types of technologies & solutions for the varied needs of the customers. We are focused on innovating newer technologies mainly to reduce production cost, improvising the output quality besides reducing the power consumption etc.

Which equipments you are primarily selling in Indian market?

One good example is Pourtier solution for extra high voltage cables (Milliken conductor) as it requires specific machines including know-how. We are able to sell these equipments because of the clear leadership in terms of know-how and experience compared to our regular competitors.
