Noida to have underground power lines

March 31, 2013

The Noida Authority has decided to shift about 6 km of overhead power transmission lines underground for a better view of the city’s skyline. The project, estimated to cost Rs. 25 crore, will cover transmission lines running from Mahamaya Flyover to the Sector 71 crossing. The work is expected to start in April and should be completed in about six months. Two similar projects have been undertaken by the Authority involving overhead electricity lines of several kilometres in length.

High-tension transmission lines with a capacity of 33 kV and 11 kV will be shifted underground on both sides of the road. The stretch on which the work will be undertaken is the Master Plan III road, which connects Kalindi Kunj in South Delhi with Greater Noida (West). The areas on both sides of the road with underground transmission lines will be named special corridors.
