People in rural areas will be able to get several e-services from the government.

Gujarat is expected to become the first Indian state to develop full-fledged Digital Village in 2021, offering an array of government-to-citizen (G2C) services to benefit as many as 67,75,000 rural households following the BharatNet’s optic fiber-connected network backbone.

”By 2021, BharatNet would pave a way to uplift villages, transform citizens into netizens, and ultimately connect the government services with Digital Village in Gujarat.” Hareet Shukla, Secretary, Department of Science and Technology (DST),” as reported in a leading daily.

By provisioning up to 100 Mbps Internet speed, the state government is taking a big leap in rural transformation with optical-fiber highway becoming a backbone network for all socio-economic activities under the ambitious Digital Village program.

Gujarat Fiber Grid Network Limited (GFGNL), a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) has been deploying the state-wide fiber network together with GTPL Hathway Limited and Polycab India Limited consortium.
