Work of laying underground electricity cables in the second phase, estimated at a cost of 80 crore, has already commenced in Margao and Fatorda. A senior official attached to the department told TOI that the remaining areas within the jurisdiction of the Margao municipal council (MMC) will be undertaken in this phase.
“While the first phase which was completed a couple of years ago covered most parts of Margao, the second phase which commenced recently will cover the remaining parts of Margao, Comba, old market area, Khareband, Borda, Gogol, Fatorda, KTC, Gomant Vidya Niketan area, Maddel, Mungur, Chowgule college area, Ambaji, Chandrawado and Housing Board area,” he said adding that the laying of underground cables for street lights has already been completed in some areas.
