Haryana Govt Plans to Construct 182 New Sub-stations

The Haryana government plans to construct 182 new sub- stations of different levels and augment capacity of 105 existing sub-stations at a cost of Rs 4,569 crore during next 36 months, Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda said. He was speaking after inaugurating 132 KV sub-station Seka and 33 KV sub-station Shobhapur, constructed by the Haryana Vidyut Prasaran Nigam and the Dakshin Haryana Bijli Vitran Nigam, respectively at a total cost of Rs 14 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of a 33-KV substation at Sector-1 HUDA Narnaul, to be constructed by DHBVN at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore.

The Chief Minister said that beside addition of power generating capacity in the state by setting up new power generating projects, it was also necessary to augment capacity of the transmission and distribution system. The government has already spent Rs 2,589 crore during last six years to strengthen the system by constructing 252 new substations of various levels and augmenting capacity of 456 old substations, he said, adding, the total number of substations has increased to 692 in the state. He said an ambitious plan of Rs 430 crore was being executed to strengthen power transmission and distribution system in district Mahendragarh. Under this plan, 15 new sub-stations would be constructed and capacity of five existing substations would be augmented, he added.
