KEC International secures major orders

KEC International Ltd. (KEC) has secured various new orders spread across its Transmission, Power Systems, Railways, Cable and Telecom businesses. Details are as follows –

Transmission Business

• India: In Orissa, the company has secured an order from PGCIL order for establishment of 765 kV double circuit transmission lines on turnkey basis between Angul – Srikakulam. The order value is Rs. 299 crore, project duration is 30 months and total line length is 130 kilometers. In Andhra-Pradesh the company has secured an order from PGCIL for establishment of 400 kV double circuit transmission lines on turnkey basis between Nellore – Thiruvalam. The order value is Rs. 247 crore, project duration is 27 months and total line length is 170 kilometers. Another order for 400 kV double circuit transmission line on turnkey basis in Tamil Nadu (between Pandiankumppa and Veeraman Village). The order has been secured from the client Tamil Nadu Transmission Corporation Ltd. The order value is Rs. 361 crore and the project duration is 18 months. The total line length is 114 kms.

• Sri-Lanka: The Sri-Lanka order is for establishment of 132 kV double circuit transmission line on turnkey basis between Ambalangoda to Galle grid substation. The order value is Rs. 54 crore, project duration is approx. 22 months and total line length is 40 kilometers.

• Bangladesh: Order for establishment of 132 kV double circuit transmission line between Jamalpur-Sherpur and Fenchuganj-Kulauara on turnkey basis from the Power Grid Company of Bangladesh (PGCB). The order value is Rs. 53 crore, project duration is 18 months and total line length is ~45 kilometers.

• Americas: SAE Towers, the wholly owned subsidiary of the company, has secured various orders for supply of lattice towers, poles and hardwares to United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil. The total value of these orders is Rs. 180 crore.

Power Systems Business

In this business, the company has secured orders from Malaysia and Kenya.

• Malaysia: Order for establishment of 275 kV substations on turnkey basis at Similajau & Oya in Malaysia. The order is secured from Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB), Malaysia. The order value is Rs. 75 crore and project duration is approx. 20 months.

• Kenya: The company has received three orders from Kenya of total worth Rs. 195 crore. These orders are received from the Kenya Power and Lighting Company ltd (KPLC). Order for setting-up eight 66/11 kV substations and one 33/11 kV substation at areas near Nairobi. The order value is Rs. 118 Crore and project duration is 24 months. Order for setting-up four 33/11 kV substations and one 66/11 kV substation at areas near Nairobi. The order value is Rs. 49 crore and project duration is 24 months. Order for setting up the 33 kV XLPE and optic fibre underground cables. The order value is Rs. 28 crore and project duration is 12 months and project length is total 42 kilometers.

Railways Business

In this business, the company has received an order for establishment of Power Supply, Signaling and Telecommunication Systems on a turnkey basis. The project is part of the North-South Railway project in Turkmenistan. The order is secured from the Ministry of Railway Transport of Turkmenistan. This project is secured in consortium with a company based in the CIS region. The project value is Rs. 588 crore in which KEC’s share is Rs. 192 crore. The project duration is 18 months. This is the largest ever railway order for the company. With the entry in Turkmenistan, the company has expanded its footprint in CIS region. The company already has presence in Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Georgia in this region.

Cable Business

In this business, the company has secured various orders for supply of Power Cables and Telecom Cables. The total value of these orders is Rs. 212 crore.

Telecom Business

In this business, the company has received an order for the supply and establishment of Optical Power Ground Wire (OPGW) communication systems on turnkey basis from Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL) in north-east region of India. The total value of this order is Rs. 30 crore and the project duration is 15 months. The total line length of the network is over 1,100 kms.
