Lifeline Technologies provides superior quality additives, masterbatches, compounds, and water blocking tapes to the wire and cable industry. Established in 1993, Lifeline Technologies has a diverse product portfolio and a strong presence in over 32 countries. In an interview with Wire & Cable India magazine, Mr. Karan Shah, Director-Marketing & Business Development, Lifeline Technologies talks about their wide array of products and the company’s new manufacturing facility.

Wire & Cable India: Kindly brief us about your business journey and product portfolio.

Karan Shah: Lifeline Technologies was established in 1993 with a mission to manufacture innovative and specialty products of global standards. We have been leading the global specialty additives industry. Our promise is to deliver performance and value addition to our business partners. Backed by a diverse product portfolio and a strong presence in over 32 countries, we cater to a wide range of industries. These range from wire and cable to consumer and household durables, as well as packaging and agriculture, to name a few. Our products are a result of years of research & development to ensure the highest of standards.

WCI: What proportion of your product range is dedicated to the wire and cable segment? Tell us some of the products along with their USPs.

KS: We are a one-stop solution provider for the wire and cable industry for their requirements of additives, masterbatches, compounds, and water blocking tapes. We have unique offerings like rodent repellent, termite repellent, squirrel repellent, UV additives, laser marking masterbatch, and combi batches that combine colour as well.

We offer a wide range of RAL/Pantone-based colour masterbatches for PE, HFFR, PVC, EVA, XLPE, PBT, TPU, PA, PC base resins. We have developed unique flame retardant additives for FRLS and HFFR applications. We also offer flame retardant compounds to achieve the highest ratings that comply with European norms.

WCI: Outline the new product developments in your company.

KS: Our new products include PBT polymer with intrinsic viscosity (IV) value of 1.3, laser marking additive masterbatch, specialised water blocking tape for medium voltage, high voltage, and optical fibre cables.

WCI: Tell us the current market presence and expansion plans – both domestically and internationally.

KS: We have set up a state-of-the-art R&D, QC, and manufacturing facility about 30 kms from Mumbai. This has enhanced our additive and masterbatch manufacturing capabilities. Our production capacity is now more than double from last year. We cater to our domestic and international customers spread over 32 countries globally from a single location. Our new facility has capabilities to simulate the manufacturing conditions of our customers and innovate so that we can develop and test our world-class products.

WCI: How do you view the wire and cable industry and the market potential of cable compounds? What are the recent trends?

KS: The wire and cable industry is growing at a very fast pace due to the consumer requirements for better overall connectivity. Lifeline Technologies has designed products to add value and enhance the life of the wires and cables. This creates a sustainable solution for the final consumer. With government initiatives of Digital India, Make in India, and private companies laying optical fiber throughout the country, it is providing further impetus for solutions that we offer.
