Traco Cable Records INR 1.5-crore Profit

Traco Cable, a PSU in Kerala, has invested around INR 5-crore in the improvement of its facilities at Irumpanam, Pinarayi, and Thiruvalla. The production of covered conductors has been started at the Thiruvalla unit of the company.

Kerala-based Traco Cable Company Limited has registered around INR 1.5-crore profit during the month of November. The state government has raised the financial guarantee for the company from INR 51 crore to INR 100 crore on the basis of its performance.

Prasad Mathew, Managing Director, Traco Cable, remarked that the company expected a turnover of INR 190 crore during the current financial year with the performance of the company improving on all fronts.

Additionally, modernisation of the facilities at Irumpanam and Thiruvalla has played a key role in the revival of the company performance. Now, all the three units of the cable company, including the one in Pinarayi in Kannur district, are operating in profit now.

The revamping of facilities has enabled the company to increase the aluminium cable production to 9,000 tonnes. Besides power cables and conductors, the production of covered conductors has also been introduced at the Thiruvalla unit of the company.

Mr. Mathew also informed that Traco Cable had implemented an INR 5-crore improvement of facilities at the Irumpanam and Thiruvalla units of the company over the last year. Facilities at Pinarayi in the Kannur district have also been improved with fresh investments, he added.

Furthermore, the Kerala State Electricity Board has made several project orders worth INR 110 crore from Traco Cable. While the company has made sales of around 20,000 coils of house wiring cables per month, and the volume has risen to around 40,000 coil cables.
