Wire & Cable India: Please highlight technology and quality development or up-gradation that recently took place.

Hemant Gadhave: As far as technology upgradation is concerned, our team at Panasonic Life Solutions India has consistently explored new opportunities where we can adopt innovative technology with machine control and enhance efficiency as well as quality.

To ensure regular quality upgradation, we focus on customer delight through the quality of performance of the products and services. At Panasonic Life Solutions India, we conduct regular training activities for our technical team and also conduct quality circles at all locations to improve the processing terms of output, quality, and cost.

Recently our test lab has received the NABL accreditation for testing as per IS 694 and IS 17048. This accreditation provides good access to the domestic as well as international market.

WCI: What have you been doing to foster innovation and R&D at your workplace?

HG: At Panasonic Life Solutions India, we emphasise on technology and innovation. We are increasing our spending on R&D with a strong focus on the latest innovation trends including the Industrial Internet of Things (IoT), where interconnected devices are used in manufacturing and industrial settings.

We have recently built our first Industry 4.0 standard ECM manufacturing facility in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. The manufacturing unit is constructed to support the growing infrastructure needs of the country. We have also forayed into the home automation space where we have launched a high-tech range of smart solutions to facilitate innovation in the home and living environment of today. We, at PLSIND, explore the opportunities of R&D and innovation not only in products but also in our processes. Our technical team has also exhibited consistent effort in collaborating on innovative ideas and modifying imported machines.

WCI: What is your technology and business roadmap for the coming times?

HG: At Panasonic Life Solutions India, we aim to accelerate our reach and expansion in the tier-II and sub-tier-II markets. We are planning to invest heavily in retail and distribution segments to expand our network in these markets and set up franchise-operated models. These exclusive brand outlets will act as experience centers for customers and will also allow people to associate and grow with our brand while assuring customers of superior quality and high-tech products. With the rise of digitisation, new digital communication channels are being developed, to maintain our link with stakeholders and the community at large. We are also focusing on exports of electrical wires, communication wires and PVC tapes. Navigating and expanding into new markets in Asia will further increase our scope for new business opportunities.

These automated processes save time and are far more efficient in functioning. Automation in turn is also environmentally-friendly and technologically superior.

The Sri City facility is a first-of-its-kind Industry 4.0 standard facility that supports highly automated processes and tech-based manufacturing for the products. This facilitates streamlined production and better results. Automation also decreases the number of accidents with workers and is increasingly environmentally-friendly.
