Mr. Selesh Gupta, Group CEO, JSK Industries Private Limited

Established in 1965, JSK Industries Private Limited ranks amongst the largest Indian aluminium conductor manufacturing companies. The company boasts of a total manufacturing capacity of 2,00,000 MTPA as well as various prestigious certifications like IEC, ISO, European Union and BIS. JSK appreciates diversification, expansion and partnering with versatile technology developers in IT, science and technology sectors to initiate new products and customise solutions for the greater good of the nation. In a recent conversation with Wire & Cable India, Mr. Selesh Gupta, Group CEO, JSK Industries Private Limited, shared the company’s business journey, ongoing and future developments, his thoughts on the Elecrama 2023 theme as well as the theme for the company’s exhibit.

Wire & Cable India: Please give us a brief introduction of your company.

Selesh Gupta: JSK Industries Private Limited was founded by Shri Dinesh ji Shah in 1965. Initially the company traded in aluminium products and gradually we expanded and set up a manufacturing facility in Silvassa for the manufacturing of aluminium conductors. Starting with the manufacturing of ACSR conductors in the early 80s, we are now the fifth largest aluminium conductor producer in the world. Our products & processes are certified with almost every certification required for the acceptance & validation throughout the globe i.e. IEC, ISO, UL, BIS and so on and exporting to over 60 countries. We are among the few oldest and leading buyers of aluminium from NALCO and manufactures all kinds of specialised Al conductors in addition to wire rods and copper contact and catenary wire.

WCI: What are the ongoing or future developments at JSK Industries?

SG: JSK is now a diversified group with the strength of skilled manpower from electrical and mechanical background to look after the manufacturing from 2 manufacturing units situated in Silvassa in addition to our sales and marketing team operating from Mumbai head office. JSK’s vision is a perfect fit with the aspirations of our honourable Prime Minister to “Go vocal for local” & “Make in India ” and that’s how we are working towards establishing indigenous technologies to grow worldwide. As a result, we scale up ourselves in IT, Cybersecurity and Science & Technology verticals.

In the IT Sector, JSK entered into the Digital Substation Arena for the Indian power transmission sector.
With six decades of legacy of JSK and Cyber Security expertise of Velox (a leading 100 percent Make in India, Cyber-Security company)- positioned JSK VELOX into the cyber security domain to further strengthen the IT/ OT digital security of government companies in various sectors i.e. power, infra, transport, railways, aviation, defence, banking, revenue etc.

Recently we registered our presence in the futuristic science and technology domain. A technology called PHOTONICS which is developed by a distinguished DRDO-scientist (Retd) helps in minimising the down time of any kind of infrastructure with the method called vibration analytics and condition monitoring on real time basis. This technology helps us to monitor the energy transmission overhead lines in the least possible time to mitigate the requirements of Asset Monitoring. With this we can fulfil the requirements of railways for the monitoring of rolling stock, rail, track, crossings, bridges, tunnels, train and anti-collision as well, all with two devices and that to 100 percent make in India. We are planning to go global with this technology to create awareness and market in Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, Middle East, Africa and other parts of the world.

WCI: Please shed some light on the R&D investment of the company.

SG: JSK is a techno driven company, we keep on receiving customisation requirements with reference to the applications from our customers/ end users. Hence our R&D process is a never-ending work with new variations, solutions, applications and products, therefore our R&D is continuous and perhaps not quantifiable. As we expanded our business into new sectors, our up time in research and development in order to learn and create awareness in the larger interest of mankind and in line with nature becomes our duty.

“JSK’s R&D process is a never-ending work with new variations, solutions, applications and products, therefore our R&D is continuous and perhaps not quantifiable”

WCI: How are the goals and activities of JSK in line with contributing towards a sustainable future?

SG: JSK believes that the concept of “Reimagine Energy for a Sustainable Future” is in agreement to safeguard our natural resources as much as we can for our future generations, before it’s too late. Our topology of supporting the sustainable goals is through the digital substations, cybersecurity and photonics what we offer. When we say that one process bus system will help to replace thousands of copper wires, it paves the way to save great amount of copper resources for future requirements. If we do real time monitoring of our infrastructure and avoid multiple train accidents, and if we help Indian organisations like ISRO, SEBI, NHPC, IOCL, OPTCL and protect the country’s capital assets in terms of digital security with cybersecurity, in my view with all this we are contributing towards our sustainable goals.

WCI: What is your company’s theme for the Elecrama 2023 exhibition?

jsk industries

SG: As a technology-driven company, we have portrayed our major technological products in this booth here at Elecrama. We have also set up a miniature of this technology to show how it is important for the train collision avoidance system which is a primary requirement of the railway ministry, and there is great response for this technology in Elecrama, with people visiting us and asking questions. The technology we have added will not only avoid collisions but also assess and monitor the tunnels, railway bridges, tracks and everything in the route. We have officially launched our company’s diversification on 18th February, the first day of Elecrama 2023. We have announced JSK’s diversification in 3 segments- JSK-IT, JSK-Technology under the flagship of our parent company i.e., JSK Industries.

Our vision is to create more and more awareness among people, especially youth. We ask them to visit us or call us to learn more from experts, we request institutions to write to us so that we can invite students and train them and increase awareness about the futuristic goals of the world and help to turn them into a qualified skill set for our country. We aim for this so that with the help of education they can create something innovative for the sake of inclusive growth.
