In an exclusive interaction with Wire & Cable India, Mr. Pratik Jajodia, Managing Director, Tirupati Reels, shared that the company is building India’s first one-stop industrial packaging platform by diversifying into allied packaging categories such as steel drums, PP spools, and PP sheets, demonstrating its future-readiness as a multi-material solutions provider to the wire and cable sector.

Wire & Cable India: Please briefly describe the history and evolution of Tirupati Reels.

Pratik Jajodia: Tirupati Reels began its journey as a specialised manufacturer of wooden cable drums for India’s emerging wire and cable industry. Over time, we transformed into an advanced industrial packaging company offering engineered wood-based solutions including wooden drums, industrial pallets, customised skids and heavy-duty transit packaging systems.

Today, Tirupati Reels partners with some of the leading cable, wire, steel and various infrastructure companies in India and global markets, supporting them with reliable, scalable and export-compliant packaging solutions.

WCI: What is your current manufacturing capacity? What kind of raw materials do you source for your drums/reels and how do you ensure their quality?

PJ: We operate multi-location manufacturing infrastructure with scalable production capabilities, tailored for high-volume and fast-turnaround requirements for India’s wire and cable manufacturing ecosystem.

We make close to 50,000 wooden drums, and 25,000 wooden pallets every month. Our raw materials are sourced from certified forestry partners across the globe, ensuring uniformity, dimensional accuracy, and mechanical performance. Each drum or pallet passes through rigorous quality control at every stage, enhancing structural integrity and safe transportation of high-value cables across long distances.

WCI: Kindly elaborate on the current market reach of the company, both in the international and the domestic markets.

PJ: Tirupati Reels enjoys a strong domestic presence across all major wire and cable producing regions in India, along with the various other sectors like steel, engineering goods etc. Our products are extensively used across power transmission, renewable energy, telecom, metro, defence and industrial infrastructure projects. Alongside domestic leadership, we have expanded significantly into export-driven supply chains, partnering with all the manufacturing companies catering to global infrastructure markets. This expansion reinforces our commitment to support Indian manufacturing growth worldwide.

WCI: Could you please take us through the key strengths of Tirupati Reels which have played a significant role in providing competitive edge to the company in the wooden reels segment?

PJ: Our recent facility upgrades include new-generation machining lines for all product ranges, automated material handling, finishing systems and structural design enhancements suitable for specialised cable & industrial packaging.

In addition to wooden reels, Tirupati Reels has diversified into industrial pallets, export skids and engineered transit packaging. Our upcoming expansion into allied packaging products such as steel drums, PP spools and PP sheets reflect our future-readiness as a multi-material solutions provider to Indian industry.
