Adani Energy Wins First ISTS-TBCB Project of FY26 for Transmission in Maharashtra

Adani Energy Solutions won Maharashtra’s first FY26 ISTS-TBCB project, involving a 3,000 MVA transmission system and 765/400kV substation near Kalamb, with INR 2,214.45 million annual tariff.

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL) has secured an interstate transmission system (ISTS) project in Maharashtra under the tariff-based competitive bidding (TBCB) route. The project, titled “Network expansion scheme in WR to cater to pumped storage potential near Talegaon (Pune),” marks the first ISTS-TBCB award of FY26 and the first focused on pumped storage evacuation.

The project includes setting up a 2×1,500 MVA, 765/400kV substation near Kalamb and associated infrastructure, totaling 3,000 MVA of transformation capacity. Scheduled for commissioning by January 2028, it adds to AESL’s transmission portfolio, now reaching 26,696 ckm and 93,236 MVA.

The SPV “WRNES Talegaon Power Transmission Ltd” was officially transferred to AESL by REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL) on May 30, 2025. AESL is expected to earn an annual tariff of INR 2,214.45 million. The project was won in a three-way bid against PGCIL and Resonia (formerly Sterlite Power).
