Andhra Pradesh is expediting a INR 14,962 crore transmission network upgrade covering the 400 kV, 220 kV, and 132 kV systems across the state. The ambitious expansion aims to strengthen supply for industries, ports, metro projects, and new growth corridors while adopting advanced technologies to boost efficiency and reliability.

At a recent review meeting, Energy Minister G. Ravi Kumar emphasized timely execution, safety, and quality, particularly for projects catering to ports, industries, and the state capital region. Of the total investment, projects worth INR 6,000 crore are slated for completion by 2027.
Special focus areas include power supply for metro rail projects in Vijayawada and Visakhapatnam, substations to support aquaculture, and reliable infrastructure for industries and data centres in Visakhapatnam. The state is also pushing advanced technologies such as underground cabling, GIS substations, and large-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
“The highest standards of quality and safety must be achieved,” said Andhra Pradesh Energy Minister G Ravi Kumar, highlighting the government’s commitment to delivering reliable, efficient, and future-ready transmission infrastructure.
