Apar Industries has forayed into dark fibre monetisation through its subsidiary, securing a major 15-year OPGW project from Karnataka’s power utility.

Apar Industries Ltd. has formally entered the dark fibre monetisation business via its wholly owned subsidiary, Apar Transmission & Distribution Project Pvt. Ltd. (ATDPPL). The company announced that ATDPPL has been selected by Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. (KPTCL) to operate, maintain and monetise KPTCL’s extensive Optical Ground Wire (OPGW) network across the state for the next 15 years.

Under the agreement, ATDPPL will market 6,100 km of KPTCL’s OPGW network to telecom operators, large technology companies and Class-A ISPs operating across India. Revenue generated from leasing this dark fibre will be shared in a 60:40 ratio between ATDPPL and KPTCL, respectively. Additionally, ATDPPL will make an annual payment of INR 5 crore to KPTCL over the entire contract period.

According to the company’s statement on 6 November 2025, the move creates a new long-term, recurring revenue stream in the passive network infrastructure space. Apar, which already manufactures OPGW and supplies to major telecom players, said the diversification strengthens its positioning as an integrated data connectivity solutions provider and OPGW network operator.
