The recent Wire Technical Symposium, organised by Niehoff and Mikrotek on October 31 and November 1 in Bhiwadi, Rajasthan, brought together industry leaders, engineers, and manufacturing professionals to exchange insights on process excellence, material performance, and machine reliability in the wire and cable sector.

Mr. Lalit Sharma (COO, KEI Industries) inaugurated the symposium along with Mr. Jitendra Agarwal (MD, Pushp Profiles). They were joined by industry leaders Mr. Thalaj Malhotra (Director, Malhotra Cables), Mr. Kamal Babu (Chairman and MD, Mikrotek), Mr. Anto Joseph (Sales Manager, Niehoff India), Mr. P. Ravi Kumar (Technical Manager, Niehoff India), Mr. Michael Biller (European Sales Director, Mikro), and Mr. Kjell E. Johnsen (Head of Wire and Cable Division, Conoptica).
From the outset, the symposium focused on learning rather than selling. Lalit Sharma remarked, “This kind of initiative is what keeps our industry moving forward. Everyone walks away with practical insight that can be implemented back at their plant.”

Kamal Babu noted that hosting the event in an industrial hub encouraged direct engagement between factory professionals and field experts. With domestic manufacturing expanding under Make in India, he emphasised the need for sustained investment in technology, innovation, and product development.
P. Ravi Kumar observed that the symposium’s strong technical simple machine maintenance and multi-wire machines process took it apart, as participants tackled issues from material variability to automation and quality control to align with global standards.

Michael Biller shared insights on the role of wire drawing dies in improving plant efficiency, while Chaitanya Goli of Niehoff Cable emphasised that data-driven testing and skilled operator involvement are essential to maintaining those performance standards.
Deepanshi Agarwal of Birla Copper pointed out that even small improvements in drawing, annealing, and insulation can significantly enhance efficiency and reliability.
The symposium highlighted steel wire applications, reflecting rising performance demands across sectors. Speakers underscored the growing importance of machine maintenance in optimising costs, improving drawing quality, and enhancing overall operational efficiency. Discussions also showcased modern Niehoff wire drawing and testing systems that boost precision, reduce downtime, and strengthen process reliability. Kjell E. Johnsen added that effectively applying new testing and monitoring technologies is vital for achieving measurable environmental gains.
