Godawari Power plans INR 7,000 crore investment in a new 1 MTPA steel plant in Chhattisgarh to expand capacity and meet rising demand.

Godawari Power and Ispat Limited has announced plans to set up a new integrated steel plant with a capacity of 1 million tonnes per annum (MTPA), involving an investment of INR 7,000 crore. The project, approved by the company’s Board on March 24, 2026, will be located at Sarora village in Tilda tehsil of Raipur district, Chhattisgarh, around 50 km from Raipur.

The upcoming facility will manufacture iron and steel finished products, including heavy and medium structural steel and wire rods, catering to the growing demand for structural steel in India.

At present, the company operates a 0.5 MTPA facility at Siltara in Raipur, which is running at over 95% capacity utilisation. The new plant will add 1 MTPA capacity and is expected to be completed within three and a half years.
