POWERGRID wins inter-regional SR–ER transmission project, boosting grid reliability, easing congestion, and enabling renewable integration across eastern and southern India.

Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (POWERGRID) has emerged as the successful bidder for the “Inter-Regional Strengthening between SR Grid and ER Grid” transmission project under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) framework.

The company received the Letter of Intent on December 15, 2025, and will implement the project on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis.
The scope includes construction of high-capacity 765 kV double-circuit transmission lines passing through Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, along with associated line bays and reactor systems at both ends.

The project aims to enhance power transfer capacity between the Southern and Eastern regional grids, improve system reliability, reduce congestion, and support large-scale renewable energy integration.
