Vedanta Aluminium, India’s largest aluminium producer, has expanded its Primary Foundry Alloy (PFA) capacity by 120 KTPA at its SEZ unit in Jharsuguda, Odisha. The move is set to position India more competitively in the global automotive and engineering aluminium markets. With this, Vedanta becomes even more integral to the domestic supply chain, having been the first in the country to produce and deliver PFAs locally.

Primary Foundry Alloys are crucial to auto components like engine blocks, wheels, and cylinder heads, segments seeing rising demand with the shift to EVs and fuel-efficient vehicles. The PFA market in India is projected to grow at 7% CAGR, ahead of global trends. Vedanta’s state-of-the-art setup, including Befesa casting lines from Spain and advanced in-line metal treatment systems, enables it to meet global quality standards while targeting exports to Europe, North America, and Asia.
