Vedanta to Expand its Aluminium Capacity to 31 Lakh Tonnes

Vedanta Limited is expanding its aluminium production capacity to 31 lakh tonnes, backed by significant investments in plant expansion and raw material security. Vedanta is also developing an integrated Zinc Park and Aluminium Park to  support thousands of upstream and downstream industries and plans to set up a greenfield aluminium smelter with a capacity of 30 lakh tonnes.

Vedanta Limited is advancing towards expanding its aluminium production capacity to 31 lakh tonnes, backed by significant investments in plant expansion and raw material security. In addition, the company plans to set up a greenfield aluminium smelter with a capacity of 30 lakh tonnes.

To catalyse industrial growth, Vedanta is also developing an integrated Zinc Park and Aluminium Park that will support thousands of upstream and downstream industries. This initiative is expected to generate employment for lakhs of people and drive a ‘metal revolution’ that will enable cutting-edge applications across sectors.

In FY25, the company achieved its highest-ever revenue of INR 1.5 lakh crore and delivered its second-highest EBITDA of over INR 40,000 crore. Vedanta Aluminium was also ranked 2nd among global aluminium companies by S&P Global in 2024, underscoring its operational excellence.

Additionally, Vedanta is at an advanced stage of restructuring, moving towards a pure-play business model. Its demerger proposal has received overwhelming support, with over 99.5% of shareholders and creditors voting in favour.
