Prysmian has introduced a brand-new burial tool, a new generation heavy-duty plough used for burying submarine cables deep under the seabed. The tool has been created in close-collaboration with SMD and is Prysmian’s most powerful and largest tool, one of two that have been procured from North East England based SMD.

It will be used for the burial of power cables at a maximum of 5 meters beneath mean seabed level and will make cable burial more effective and protected. The burial tool will be deployed for operation on Prysmian’s latest-generation deep-sea cable installation vessels, the Monna Lisa and the Alessandro Volta.
Prysmian’s Middlesbrough Marine base takes the lead in the planning, procurement and deployment of Prysmian’s burial operations, and plays a central part of Prysmian’s global operations to deliver key British submarine projects.
