India’s trade watchdog has proposed a five-year anti-dumping duty on cold-rolled non-oriented electrical steel from China to protect domestic industry.

India’s Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has recommended an imposition of anti-dumping duties on China for five years on imports of cold-rolled non-oriented (CRNO) electrical steel, to protect the domestic players of the country.

In its findings, the DGTR concluded that certain Chinese exporters were selling cold-rolled non-oriented electrical steel in India at below fair value, injuring local producers.

The proposed duties vary from USD 223.82 per tonne for some exporters to USD 414.92 per tonne for others. Although DGTR has made the recommendation, the final decision on imposition rests with India’s Ministry of Finance.
