HFCL board approves INR 580 crore preform facility via subsidiary, strengthening backward integration and supporting optical fiber capacity expansion amid rising demand.

HFCL Ltd said it has approved setting up a preform manufacturing facility through its wholly owned subsidiary, HFCL Technologies Private Ltd, with an estimated investment of about INR 580 crore. The board cleared the proposal at its meeting held the same day.

The plant will have an annual capacity of around 300–310 MT and is targeted for completion by July 2029. The facility will produce optical fiber preforms, helping reduce supplier dependence, improve margins, and support demand from 5G rollout, data centres, and broadband expansion initiatives.
