Government Approves INR 293 Crore UG Power Cable Network in Mangaluru

Karnataka Legislative Assembly has approved laying of underground power cables in parts of Mangaluru in Ullal, Someshwara and Kotekar town with an estimated cost of about INR 293 crore.

Karnataka Legislative Assembly Speaker MLA U. T. Khader has approved laying of underground power cables in parts of Mangaluru-Ullal, Someshwara and Kotekar town with an estimated cost of about INR 293 crore.

The sanctioned works, to be executed by Mangalore Electricity Supply Company and Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.

The high tension (HT) lines would be drawn for 144.16 km and low tension (LT) lines for 223.48 km. The aerial bunched cables would be laid for 12 kms along the sea and in places which witness flooding during monsoon.

In addition to this, 33 kV substation in Thokkottu would be upgraded to 110 kV, while a proposal was submitted for upgrading the 110/11 kV, 10 MVA power transformer to 20 MVA at Konaje substation and installation of a new 110/33 kV, 20 MVA power transformer at Konaje substation. The Jeppu substation in Mangaluru City would get an additional 110/33 kV, 20 MVA power transformer.

All works will be taken up simultaneously and are expected to be completed in 2 years.
