Assam Govt Announces INR 2,500 Crore Underground Power Cable Project in Guwahati

The Assam government will undertake an INR 2500 crore underground power cable distribution project in Guwahati  in a phased manner.

The Assam Finance Minister has announced that the Assam government will undertake an INR 2500 crore project in Guwahati for establishing an underground power cable network in the region in a phased manner.

The project aims to modernize the city’s infrastructure, improve public safety and enhance the urban landscape. As part of the initiative, INR 200 crore will be spent under the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS), covering 5 corridors including Paltan Bazar Square, AT Road from Paltan Bazar to Bharalumukh, MG Road from Bharalumukh  to Padumphukhuri, GS Road from Paltan Bazar to GMCH Road, including GMCH Road, and GS Road from Bhangagarh to the Dispur Secretariat.

The underground cabling project will upgrade the city’s landscape, significantly improve power supply, and reduce the risks of accidents associated with overhead cables, making the region safe and future ready for growing power demands.
