Godrej & Boyce commissions 220kV Power Grid substations in Karnataka

With the start of this substation, the transmission of electricity will be ensured for the emerging industrial establishments and data centres in the region and for nearby areas.

The Power Infrastructure and Renewable Energy (PIRE) business unit of Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co. Ltd has commissioned 220/66/11kV power grid substations at Sira in Tumakuru district of Karnataka.

The substations will connect Sira and its adjacent towns on a state-level grid through 220kV and 66kV power transmission lines, with a transformation capacity of 200 MVA each, as per the statement released by the company.

Raghavendra Mirji, Senior Vice President & Head – Power Infrastructure & Renewable Energy (PIRE), Godrej Electricals & Electronics said, “We are thrilled to commission substations with high power capacity that will not only resolve the problem of reliable power in Sira but also pave way for industries to perform better due to better accessibility to an efficient power supply in the region. We hope to expand our reach to such smaller towns in the state to improve the quality of power transmission in the future.”

With the substation, the availability of reliable power will be assured with the transmission of electricity to the emerging industrial establishments and data centres in the region and for nearby areas. Furthermore, this will play a crucial role in expanding the industrial landscape in the future and provide a manifold of growth opportunities, as per the release.

Godrej Electricals & Electronics, a business division of Godrej & Boyce, has successfully commissioned several EHV substation projects and transmission lines up to 400kV across India. It may be added that in July this year, Godrej & Boyce secured the mandate to build Mumbai city’s first-ever 400kV substation.
