Global technology leader ABB plans to invest USD 75 million in India to expand manufacturing capacity and strengthen research capabilities.

ABB has announced that it will invest a further ~USD 75 million in India during 2026 to significantly expand its manufacturing footprint and research and development (R&D) capabilities. This investment, combined with its 2025 spend of over USD 35 million, reflects ABB’s commitment to scaling its “local-for-local” strategy in India.

The investment, scheduled for 2026, will focus on expanding manufacturing and research facilities across key locations including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Nashik and Vadodara. The move aims to support growing demand from sectors such as renewable energy, metro rail, data centres and industrial automation.
ABB will expand production of low-voltage drives, specialised motors and power infrastructure equipment at its Bengaluru facilities, while also establishing innovation labs, training centres and digital monitoring capabilities. In Hyderabad, the company is developing a new R&D and engineering hub with advanced laboratories, including a planned high-power testing facility.
Further investments include expanding circuit breaker and vacuum interrupter manufacturing in Nashik and increasing generator and motor production capacity in Vadodara. The expansion is expected to create over 300 skilled jobs and strengthen local manufacturing, with around 85% of ABB’s products sold in India already produced locally.

The investment aligns with ABB’s strategy to support India’s infrastructure growth and energy transition while strengthening the country’s role as a global manufacturing and engineering hub.
