Hindalco Rolls Out First Coil and Foil Stock at Its New Odisha Plant

Hindalco has successfully rolled out its first coil at state-of-the-art FRP Phase 2 Facility in Odisha, boosting annual capacity to 1.7 lakh tonnes.

Hindalco has successfully rolled out its first coil at its flat rolled products (FRP) Phase 2 facility in Odisha. With an annual capacity of 1.7 lakh tonnes, it’s one of the largest and most advanced integrated cold rolling complexes globally.

It’s also India’s first facility capable of producing foil stock for batteries, paving the way for the EV and energy storage revolution.

Until now, India had to import a proportion of foil stock, but with Hindalco’s new plant, the country can produce it locally. This will help support the growth of the EV industry and battery manufacturing in India, reducing the need for imports and making the country more self-reliant.
