WCI: How International trade fairs like WIRE Düsseldorf empower Indian manufacturers?
DA: International trade fairs play a pivotal role in shaping global industrial collaboration. Platforms such as WIRE Düsseldorf provide Indian manufacturers with a unique opportunity to connect directly with international markets, customers, and technology leaders.
For Indian companies, WIRE Düsseldorf serves as a gateway to global buyers, original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), and distributors from across the world. Unlike digital platforms, trade fairs enable face-to-face interaction, which builds trust and accelerates decision-making in high-value industrial transactions.
Participation in such prestigious exhibitions significantly enhances brand visibility and credibility. Indian manufacturers are positioned alongside leading global brands, helping shift perceptions from cost-driven sourcing to quality- and technology-focused manufacturing.
Additionally, WIRE Düsseldorf offers exposure to the latest innovations, sustainability practices, and regulatory standards. This knowledge enables Indian companies to align their products with global expectations and remain competitive in international markets.
Beyond sales, the platform facilitates strategic collaborations, including joint ventures, technology transfers, and long-term supply partnerships. It also helps companies identify reliable distribution networks, shortening the market entry process.
In essence, international trade fairs act as powerful enablers, helping Indian manufacturers integrate into global value chains, foster innovation, and build enduring international relationships.
WCI: From your participation at WIRE Düsseldorf, what key global market insights are you hoping to gain and bring back to strengthen India’s wire and cable manufacturing ecosystem?
DA: At Shyam Metalics, we have always stood for more than just steel. We believe that true strength lies not only in the products we manufacture, but in the lives we uplift and the future we help shape. Our participation at WIRE Düsseldorf is therefore driven by a larger purpose—to bring back global insights that strengthen not only India’s wire and cable manufacturing ecosystem, but also the communities and environment connected to it.
We aim to gain deep insights into advanced manufacturing technologies, sustainable production practices, and evolving global quality standards. The European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) is transforming global trade by tying market access to the carbon footprint of products. As India expands its exports to Europe, the wire and cable industry must align with global decarbonization norms, enhance energy efficiency, adopt cleaner technologies, and establish transparent carbon accounting systems. Building a competitive low‑carbon manufacturing ecosystem will be essential. Insights from WIRE Düsseldorf will help benchmark global best practices, navigate emerging carbon‑linked trade requirements like CBAM, and position India’s wire and cable sector as both globally competitive and environmentally responsible.

WCI: What core Indian manufacturing strengths differentiate you on the global stage? For what turnkey solutions is the world looking at India?
DA: India’s core manufacturing strength lies in its ability to combine scale, speed, cost-efficiency, and engineering depth—making it one of the world’s most reliable hubs for large-scale industrial solutions. As the largest producer and consumer of steel globally, India offers an integrated ecosystem backed by skilled manpower, strong domestic demand, and continuous capacity expansion.
At Shyam Metalics, this advantage is reflected in the rapid growth of stainless steel long products, a segment expanding at nearly 7.5% annually in India. With an estimated market size of 4.85 million tonnes in FY25, stainless steel long products are becoming the preferred solution for durable and sustainable infrastructure worldwide. Our products offer a long service life—up to five times longer than traditional carbon steel rebars—while significantly lowering life-cycle and maintenance costs.
What further differentiates us is our indigenous, Make in India–driven manufacturing model, supported by one of the largest workforces in the sector, with over 17,500 skilled professionals. This enables us to deliver end-to-end, turnkey solutions—from high-quality stainless steel long products to application-ready materials for infrastructure, construction, and industrial projects.
Globally, the world is increasingly looking at India not just for raw materials, but for durable, sustainable, and cost-effective engineering solutions, and Shyam Metalics stands at the forefront of this shift—combining rapid growth, manufacturing excellence, and long-term value creation.
WCI: Technology partnerships and acquisitions are critical today. How are Indo-global collaborations helping reinforce India’s engineering leadership?
DA: Technology partnerships and strategic acquisitions have become vital enablers of India’s engineering leadership on the global stage. Indo-global collaborations allow Indian manufacturers to rapidly absorb advanced technologies, global best practices, and international quality benchmarks, while simultaneously offering world scale, speed, and cost-efficient execution.
Through collaborations with European, American, and Asian partners, Indian companies are strengthening capabilities in automation, advanced materials, sustainability, and precision engineering. These partnerships help shorten innovation cycles, accelerate product development, and ensure compliance with global standards—reinforcing India’s position as a trusted engineering and manufacturing hub.
Equally important, India brings to these collaborations its deep engineering talent, robust manufacturing ecosystem, and execution excellence. The result is a win–win model where global technology meets Indian scale and adaptability. Such partnerships are not just enhancing competitiveness; they are enabling India to move up the value chain—from contract manufacturing to co-creation, turnkey solutions, and long-term global partnerships, firmly establishing India as a leader in future-ready engineering.
WCI: Which international regions do you see as strategic growth markets, and how is India positioned as your global manufacturing base to support these expansions?
DA: We see Europe, Latin America, and Southeast Asia as strategic growth markets, driven by large-scale infrastructure development, urbanization, energy transition projects, and rising demand for durable and sustainable construction materials. These regions increasingly value quality, regulatory compliance, and long service life, which aligns strongly with our stainless steel long product portfolio.
India serves as our global manufacturing backbone, offering a unique advantage through its scale, cost efficiency, skilled manpower, and integrated supply chains. As the world’s largest steel producer and consumer, India provides a resilient ecosystem that enables us to support global expansion with consistent quality, competitive pricing, and reliable delivery.
