Sterlite Technologies Limited (STL), through its demerged Global Services Business vertical, has signed a INR 2,631.14 crore agreement with BSNL, for the BharatNet initiative in Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh telecom circles, under Package 13. The project includes INR 1,620.50 crore in capital expenditure, INR 972.30 crore in operational costs for the new network, and INR 38.33 crore for maintaining the existing network.

It covers the design, construction, installation, upgradation, operation, and maintenance of the middle-mile network.
The agreement follows STL’s demerger, approved by the National Company Law Tribunal on February 14, 2025, under which its Global Services Business transitioned to STL Networks Limited, effective March 31, 2025. The contract will be transferred to STL Networks upon completion of formalities.

Spanning three years for construction and ten years for maintenance, the project strengthens digital infrastructure in remote areas, supporting last-mile connectivity through BharatNet.
