LS Cable & System Secures Approx USD 41 Million Submarine Cable Contract in Malaysia

LS Cable & System has been awarded a KRW 60 billion (approx. USD 41 million) turnkey contract by Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) to construct a 132 kV submarine power grid connecting the Malaysian mainland to Langkawi Island — one of the country’s key tourist destinations. This project will significantly enhance the island’s power infrastructure and ensure a stable, reliable electricity supply.

LS Cable & System will manage the entire project including system design, material procurement, submarine cable manufacturing, and cable laying & installation. This project reaffirms the company’s turnkey capabilities and engineering competitiveness on the global stage.

With the ASEAN Power Grid initiative accelerating cross-border interconnections, demand for large-scale submarine power networks continues to rise. By 2030, the global submarine cable market is projected to reach KRW 34 trillion (approx. USD 23 billion). The Asia-Pacific region alone is expected to account for KRW 20 trillion (approx. USD 13 billion). This achievement strengthens the company’s global position and it continues to expand in the high-growth Asia-Pacific market.
