Opening the event, Mr. Bernd Lohmueller, Managing Director / Chief Sales Officer, NIEHOFF Gruppe, reflected on Niehoff’s nearly three-decade journey in India. “Our story in India began in the year 1997 when we made a decision to invest in this market and build a strong market presence. Looking back today, I can say with great confidence it was the right decision,” he said.

Over the years, Niehoff of India has evolved into a significant player in the Indian wire and cable industry, supplying a wide range of equipment including rod breakdown lines, multiwire lines, bunchers and, more recently, large stranders. Mr. Lohmueller credited the company’s success not only to its technology but also to its strong customer support capabilities. “In our industry, nowadays customers expect more than only good machines. They expect a fast response, technical expertise and reliable support. And this is exactly what this team has consistently delivered,” he noted.

He further emphasised the growing importance of the Indian subsidiary within the global organisation. “Its contribution goes beyond the local market. It brings strong technical capability, valuable market understanding, manufacturing strength and the flexibility that is so important in today’s business environment.”

Looking ahead, Mr. Lohmueller said the company sees India playing an even larger role across neighbouring regions and within the broader group structure. “Looking ahead, we see Niehoff of India play an even greater role in India, in the surrounding region, in Africa, in the Middle East and also within our group. We want to continue developing its strength in manufacturing, engineering and service, and we see a strong potential for NIEHOFF OF INDIA to support the group at a broader level in the future.” He indicated that the latest expansion may not be the last. “This expansion is a clear sign that we are already looking into further investment opportunities in new land and new buildings,” he revealed.

Concluding his address, Mr. Lohmueller described the inauguration as a milestone in the company’s Indian journey. “Today, we are not opening just a new facility. We are opening the next chapter of our growth in India – with confidence, with ambition and together as a team that is ready for the future.”

Hyderabad Expansion Reflects Growing Confidence in India
Addressing the gathering, Mrs. Ursula Niehoff, Principal Share-holder, NIEHOFF Gruppe, traced the company’s long-standing relationship with India and the evolution of its local operations. “Niehoff has always had a close relationship with India and the Indian wire and cable industry,” she said, recalling the company’s engagement with the market dating back to the early 1990s.

She highlighted the group’s progressive expansion in India through agency partnerships, licensed manufacturing, joint ventures and ultimately a wholly owned subsidiary structure. According to the group, the decision to expand the Hyderabad facility was driven by the growing importance of the Indian market. “For the Niehoff Gruppe, India has always been a very important market. The necessity to invest in a new state-of-the-art factory in Hyderabad was evident to us.” The group has invested approximately Euro 7.5 million in its Indian subsidiary to date.

Drawing a symbolic comparison between the facility and the mango trees planted during the inauguration of the original factory in 2007, she noted how both have grown steadily over the years. “Just as the trees have grown over the years, our business has grown too, and we had to expand our factory in 2012, 2017, 2023 and now again in 2026.” The latest project continues a pattern of regular expansion at the Hyderabad site. “This means we have been expanding almost every five years,” she remarked, expressing confidence in continued growth and deeper collaboration with customers and partners in the years ahead.
