Diamond Power Infrastructure Limited (DPIL) has received a Letter of Award (LoA) worth INR 179.43 crore, inclusive of GST, from Adani Electricity Mumbai Limited (AEML) for the supply of specialised medium voltage (MV) and low voltage underground power cables.

The order covers approximately 871 km of cables, comprising 33 kV and 11 kV medium voltage cables along with associated 1.1 kV low voltage cables. The MV cables feature Tree-Retardant Cross-Linked Polyethylene (TR-XLPE) insulation, longitudinal and radial water-blocking construction and HDPE outer sheathing, designed for Mumbai’s coastal and monsoon conditions.
This marks the third consecutive year in which DPIL has received the contract from AEML. Under the award, deliveries are scheduled to commence upon manufacturing clearance at approximately 50 km per month, with the rate subject to advancement based on project requirements.

The specialised cable construction is intended to address moisture-related challenges in Mumbai’s underground network. TR-XLPE insulation provides resistance to water-treeing, while water-swellable tapes, water-blocked conductors and HDPE sheathing provide longitudinal and radial moisture protection.
