Kalpataru Power Transmission JV wins Electrification Contract of Bhopal Metro

MPMRCL awarded the electrification contract of Phase 1 of Bhopal Metro, which is under construction, to Gulermak-Kalpataru Power Transmission.

MPMRCL invited tenders for package-BH08 in November 2021 with an estimated cost of INR 516 crore.

The Railway Electrification contract of the Bhopal Metro Rail Project has been awarded to the joint venture (JV) of Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd. and Gulermak, i.e.  Gulermak–Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd. The agreement is for Phase 1 of the Bhopal Metro.

The scope of this contract includes engineering, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of power supply receiving substation, traction substation, auxiliary substation, 750V DC 3rd rail and SCADA system for the project.

Madhya Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (MPMRCL) invited tenders for package-BH08 in November 2021 with an estimated cost of INR 516 crore whereas the deadline for this contract is 3.5 years.

There were seven bidders who were revealed in the technical bids, including Kalpataru Power Transmission Ltd. which won the contract for electrification, and Alstom Transport India which won the contract for 156 Movia metro cars with 15 years of comprehensive maintenance for the Bhopal and Indore metro projects.

Bhopal Metro project by MPMRCL with 2 lines and 28 stations is an under-construction transit system being built to serve Bhopal. Moreover, the Government of Madhya Pradesh is implementing the Metro Rail Project in the city of Indore.
