Machine & Controls Eyes JVs & Collaborations for Developing New Machines

Machine & Controls, leaders in optical fibre cable & FRP machinery in India, offers a wide range of coiling solutions for all types of cable and is developing automated solutions for cable rewinding and coiling. They use a judicious mix of European and Indian components to curate a synchronized package that delivers good performance at an economical price. They are eyeing JVs or collaborations, both domestic and international for developing new machines. This was shared by Mr. Ashok Jain, Director, Machine & Controls during his interaction with Wire & Cable India magazine.

Wire & Cable India: What are your key objectives for your participation at Wire 2024, Germany?

Ashok Jain: Our key objective for participation in the Wire 2024, Germany is to mark our presence in the global market. We are here to showcase our diverse range of products and strengths. We will be exhibiting our new developments and we aim to penetrate deeper into the market and tap the global customers. We will be eyeing for JVs or collaborations with key international manufacturers. The Wire 2024 will also help us to enhance our knowledge of the upcoming or new trends in the cable industry.

WCI: Which specific products or technologies will you be showcasing at the event?

AJ: We have a strong command on optical fibre cable and FRP machinery. We would be displaying our caliber to handle EPC contracts for the cable & FRP industry. We will also be demonstrating our presence in LT power cable/control cable machinery.

WCI: Are there any plans for further advancements or innovations in your optical fibre cable machinery?

AJ: We are working on increasing the coloring line speed to 4000 mpm and increasing in line speed at buffering and SZ. We have developed extruders of various sizes ranging up to 120 mm as of date and have plans to produce extruders up to 200 mm and above based on customer demand.

We have a strong presence in the rewinding application of all segments right from fibre 0.25 mm to 100 mm cable diameter and line speed 30 mpm to 3000 mpm. We have also designed and manufactured a few custom-made coiling machines for our clients as per their requirements. We offer a wide range of coiling solutions for all types of cable and we are developing more automated solutions for cable rewinding and coiling.

WCI: What are your views on partnerships or collaborations to develop new machinery?

AJ: We are very much open to any partnership or collaborations, domestic and international for developing new machines. We have already stepped afoot in the LT & control cable industry and have bagged a few orders for the same. We are looking forward to potential partners with expertise in certain domains for a healthy collaboration for future growth.

WCI: What is your USP that sets you apart from its competitors?

AJ: At Machine & Controls, we use a judicious mix of European and Indian components to curate a synchronized package that delivers performance at par or better than European offerings at a much more economical price. We specialize in providing machinery as well as technological consultancy for cable manufacturing and FRP. We believe in providing the right solutions to your problems, be they mechanical or electrical, under one roof which is very rare in the industry rather than just selling our products.

WCI: What are your long-term vision and goals?

AJ: Machine & Controls is aggressively expanding into LT, HT power cable, and control cable machinery which includes extrusion solution for insulation and sheathing, rigid stranding line, steel wire drawing, rod breakdown line, drum twister, etc. We are heading towards a complete solution provider for all types of cables under one roof right from optical fibre machinery to HT cable machinery and FRP machines.

We look forward to venturing into new machinery with better efficiency and a higher benefit-cost ratio. At Machine & Controls, we work towards building a brighter future for the telecom and cable industry by strengthening its backbone and providing state-of-the-art machinery.

WCI: Please shed light on your market footprint and key clientele.

AJ: We are leaders in optical fibre cable machinery in India and our key clientele includes major cable manufacturers such as Vindhya Telelinks, Sterlite Technologies, Birla Cables, Finolex, HFCL, ITI, Pratap Digital, etc. We have supplied mimic lines to Owens Corning, 3B for their new product development and in-house trials.

We are world leaders in FRP manufacturing machines. We are supplying machines to all FRP manufacturers in India such as Indore composites, Aksh, RUNAYA, JRD composites, Vindhya Telelinks, Finolex, HTL, etc. We have exported a wide range of machines to Korea, the USA, Morocco, Malaysia, Australia etc.
