Bansal Wire Industries Limited is making steady progress in its speciality wire portfolio, with key developments across steel cord, IHT wire and OHT wire businesses.

During its Q1 FY2027 earnings call, Managing Director and CEO Pranav Bansal highlighted that the company received its first trial order from one of India’s leading tyre manufacturers for its steel cord business. The product has successfully cleared the sample approval stage with multiple customers and has entered the field/bulk trial phase. The approval process involves multiple trials, with each stage expected to take around two to three months. The company expects further trial orders from other customers in the coming quarters.

Bansal Wire has established a 20,000 tonnes per annum pilot capacity for steel cord manufacturing and aims to scale up significantly after achieving customer approvals. The company’s long-term vision is to build a speciality wire capacity of around 2 lakh tonnes, supported by growing demand for import substitution products.

The company’s IHT and OHT wire businesses are also progressing well. Currently, Bansal Wire has a combined capacity of 9,000 tonnes for IHT and expects this to increase to 15,000 tonnes after OHT commissioning. IHT production is expected to reach around 50% capacity utilisation shortly, with the company targeting 60-80% utilisation levels by the end of FY2027.

The company expects these specialty products to become meaningful contributors to its growth strategy, particularly in automotive applications, including electric vehicle components.
