LS Cable & System has secured Phase 2 of Korea’s flagship HVDC project, reinforcing its leadership in high-capacity transmission infrastructure.

LS Cable & System has been selected by Korea Electric Power Corporation (KEPCO) for Phase 2 of the East Coast–Capital Region HVDC Project, one of South Korea’s key national power grid initiatives.

Following its participation in Phase 1 in 2024, the company will deliver turnkey solutions for the East Coast–East Seoul section. The combined value of Phases 1 and 2 is approximately KRW 234 billion(approx INR 14,700 crore).

The project will deploy 525 kV, 90°C HVDC cables, among the world’s highest-capacity class, enabling long-distance, high-capacity power transmission from the East Coast to the Seoul metropolitan area. LS Cable & System said the project will help meet rising electricity demand driven by AI data centres, industrial growth, renewable energy integration, and grid modernization, while further strengthening its position in the global HVDC market.
