Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has recently announced that the company’s power transmission and distribution business has secured “significant” new orders in India and abroad. L&T has stated, in a filing to the stock exchanges, that its power transmission and distribution business has bagged two orders in the Middle East for the upgrade of electrical networks in large industrial facilities. In a filing to the stock exchanges, the company shared that its power transmission and distribution business has received two orders from the Middle East for the upgrade of electrical networks in large industrial facilities, along with an order for building a transmission line in Andhra Pradesh.

As per L&T’s classification, projects within the size of INR 1,000-2,500 crore fall under the ‘significant’ category. The scope of the two orders in the Middle East involves the establishment of gas-insulated substations with associated high-voltage cable systems, along with the installation of the power transformers and control and protection systems as part of the works. The Andhra Pradesh order involves building a 765kV transmission line, which will facilitate the evacuation of renewable energy from the wind and solar energy hub being established around Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
