Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association (IEEMA), the apex association of electrical equipment manufacturers in India, said it will organise the 11th edition of ELECRAMA 2014. The world’s largest power transmission and distribution confluence will be held in Bangalore, and the state government of Karnataka is the partner state.

ELECRAMA 2014 will be held at Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) from January 8 to 12. It will showcase the global competitiveness of Indian products and the capability of local manufacturers to develop world-class engineering products at competitive costs. With the support of Karnataka State Government, IEEMA will host its flagship event at India’s Silicon Valley.

Mr. Raj Eswaran, President, IEEMA, said, “We are honoured to have Karnataka as the official partner state. We have been assured of all support by the government of Karnataka to make the event a global reference. Bengaluru is a pioneer in establishing India’s ICT prowess globally whereby signaling the arrival of India’s capability in the global arena. It perfectly fits with our theme for this ELECRAMA, which is ‘Go Global’, where the Indian electrical sector can take a leaf out of the ICT sector. Our aim is to showcase global competitiveness of products manufactured in India. After all, we have got the necessary infrastructure and the capability to develop world-class engineering products at competitive costs.”

Bangalore’s ELECRAMA-2014 expo is expected to be a generation ahead in terms of core services, features and amenities – the highest quality at par with international standards.

BIEC is spread across 34 acres near Peenya industrial township of Bangalore, having 40,000 sq m of covered column-less air-conditioned exhibition space (three exhibition halls), a multi-facility conference centre spread over 5,600 sq m, including four conference halls, a helipad, an amphitheater, VIP lounge, food court of 7,500 sq m, a machine tool training centre and a large outdoor area. It also has an infrastructure to distribute 11 MW of power supply. It has been able to cater to well over 20,000 business visitors per day on several exhibition days.

By showcasing the ‘Go Global’ theme, India will be targeting a 5 per cent share of global trade in electrical equipment in the next ten years in order to help exports reach a level of $25 billion. IEEMA will also encourage African countries to participate in the forthcoming ELECRAMA 2014 event at Bangalore aimed at boosting electrical equipment exports.

With Africa being India’s fourth largest trade partner, bilateral trade between the two is estimated to reach $100 billion by 2015 after India’s investment in Africa exceeded $35 billion in 2011. The growing business traction between the two can be gauged from the fact that India has extended 150 lines of credit worth $5.2 billion to African countries.

Mr. Sanjeev Sardana, chairman, ELECRAMA 2014, said, “With increasing trade between India and African countries gaining momentum over the years, we see a large untapped opportunity for our electrical equipment exports going ahead with the forthcoming ELECRAMA 2014 event carrying the message of Go Global.”

The five-day event at ELECRAMA 2014 has been designed to allow participants to experience its multilateral approach to exhibitions and allied events.

Among the concurrent events lined up, ELECRAMA 2014 will unveil the 9th Trafotech International Conference on Transformers scheduled to be held during January 9-10, 2014. The TRAFOTECH 2014, held once in four years, will provide transformer designers, manufacturers, users and consultants a common platform to review the latest advances and futuristic trends, share operational experiences and discuss the requirements of transformers for smart grid systems.

The ChangeXchange 2014 – Second Reverse Buyer-Seller Meet (RBSM), supported by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, will allow participants from the African nations to meet over 1,000 suppliers from India. The ChangeXchange 2014 will be the biggest meeting place of international buyers who plan to source electrical products and equipment from India.

The CEOs summit involving giants of the global electrical equipment Industry will feature live panel discussion with eminent experts brainstorming on current challenges and opportunities in T&D Business.

At the international T&D conclave event, stakeholders from the global power, transmission and distribution sector will participate and present their views.

The event will also feature Engineer Infinite 2014, through which ELECRAMA 2014 will continue its search for new talent in the field of electrical and allied engineering. Engineer Infinite 2014 will be a pan-India competition for third- and final-year students looking for innovative solutions in the electrical T&D domain.
