Haryana approves 21 biomass power projects

Haryana Government has approved detailed project reports for 21 Biomass Power Projects of total capacity of 191 MW and these projects will be set up by the Independent Power Producers (IPP’s).

Stating this, Haryana Renewable Energy Minister Mahender Partap Singh said that land for six projects of 57.5 MW had already been purchased by IPP’s. Out of these, one project of 9.5 MW capacity at village Dhana Narsan, Bhiwani was likely to be commissioned by September, 2011. The electricity generated from these projects would be purchased by the power utilities at rates decided by the Haryana Electricity Regulatory Commission.

As many as nine biomass cogeneration projects of 18.95 MW capacity had been commissioned in various industries to meet their captive power and steam requirements. Besides this, two projects of 6 MW capacity were under installation, he added.

The Minister said that the state government was committed to promote generation of renewable energy on large scale in the state by giving a number of incentives to the IPPs. As many as nine solar power projects of cumulative capacity of 8.8 MW were being set up by the IPPs at an approximate cost of Rs. 150 crore, out of which one project of one MW capacity had been commissioned and remaining eight projects were likely to be commissioned by September 2011.
