Wire & Cable India: Brief us about Delta Tecnic.

Manel Miret: Delta Tecnic, started 34 years ago, is masterbatch specialist for cables. We first started in the Spanish market, and 5 years after export attracted us to various other markets situated in different countries. Now, we are selling masterbatches in 56 different countries. Going forward, we envision ourselves covering the whole gamut of polymers that the cable industry may need with following the higher technology as much as we can.

We are strong in automotive industry and are supplying to two biggest players of this industry. All the big names in the cable segment around the world are also our customers, Our idea is to improve the quality of our masterbatches day-by-day by using techynology and trying to offer our customers the last technology for the color of the cables

WCI: Tell us about your experience in the Indian market and your relationship with Lifeline Technologies.

MM: We came to India more than 15 years ago and then our business here was focused at just one big customer. Later, we came to realize that if our company is to have real presence in India, it would be extremely helping to find a good partner. Lifeline Technologies has same philosophy as regards to quality and technology. They trusted us with their products like rodent repellents and termite repellents for the marketing in Europe, and naturally this partnership extended to India.

Our targets for coming years in India is to focus on specialist masterbatches that the Indian market is going to need with the kind of growth it’s having in terms volume, quality, and technology. We would like to position our high level products such as PVC masterbatches for a fast speed lines productions and a large portafolio for fiber optic cables with PBT, TPE-E, PA12-elastomeric, etc,. Our company also intends to put on a local stock for masterbatches for the technology Visico®-Ambicat® (ambient curing crosslinking for XLPE) from Borouge and Borealis who are promoting this technology in India. This is going to be a big success.

We are also starting the local masterbatch stock for telecom cables which is a technical niche and are sure to be extremely successful with these.

WCI: Your views on the Indian cable industry?

MM: I am sure that optical fiber and optical fiber cable business are going to grow big in coming days. Some because of necessity of the technology, and some because of the Govt. of India thrust on accelerating the digitization in the country. Also, ‘Make in India’ is going to give boost to all the industries including the cable industry. That’s a huge opportunity for all of us related to the cable industry. And, that’s why we would like to position our PVC and other technology masterbatches for cables and Pipes in the Indian market.
