VNT Nano Dies: a Dynamic Way of Drawing and Compacting

News 13Ajex & Turner successfully developed VNT Nano dies in 2013. The VNT Nano dies have Multi-layer coatings of nanocrystalline diamond composites on hard metal, which make the die surface extremely tough and hard so that the tolerance of the die never increases throughout its working life.

Ajex & Turner has succeeded in coating the die with a thick, ultra-smooth, chemical vapor-deposited layer of diamond to ensure the smoothest wire and cable surface that is possible today.

As the wire pass through the VNT die, it impart a superb surface finish, which leads to higher conductivity, this allows the cable manufacturers to save the raw material as the same conductivity is obtained with a smaller diameter cable. It also reduces the friction, lower friction causes the less damage to conductor body, drawing wire compacting process, it leads to large cost saving.

Now, in 2017, the company has succeeded in making smaller sizes in VNT Nano from 0.800 to 100 mm.

VNT Nano dies can be used to draw copper, aluminium, alu alloy, stainless steel, welding wire, high/low carbon steel wire.

Why VNT Nano is better than TC & PCD for drawing and compacting:

For TC: While using tungsten carbide die for soft or hard material, there are chances of dust accumulation in the die and wire breakage and scratches on the conductor.

For PCD: While using polycrystalline diamond for soft and hard wire drawing purpose above mentioned problems can be rectified, diameter can be controlled but variation is possible after a due course of time, but Nano maintains 0% tolerance throughout its working life, thus there is no need for re-polishing and re-grinding. Moreover, Nano is economical in price than PCD and production is equivalent along with low power consumption and saving of 2-3% of metal.
