Underground Power Cabling Project of INR 130 Crore Approved for Mapusa in Goa

Besides, the electricity department of the state has also taken up the conversion work of HT and LT overhead power lines to covered conductors in Querim, Veling, Priol, and Cuncolim in the Priol constituency.

The underground cabling work of Mapusa, a town in North Goa, will be commissioned as soon as approval from the government is granted. The cabling project is scheduled to cost about INR 130 crore. At present, about 40 percent of the 33 kV power line network has been already taken underground.

Following the approval of the said cabling project, the work order will be placed and work will be initiated.

As published in a leading daily, the electricity department of the state is in the planning phase of the conversion of overhead to underground cables of Vasco city. The modification of existing overhead 11 kV and LT power lines to underground cabling systems of some areas in the state, including major portions of Old Goa, Cumbharjua, Saligao, and Britona, are on the verge of completion.

The electricity department has also taken up the conversion work of HT and LT overhead power lines to covered conductors in Querim, Veling, Priol, and Cuncolim in the Priol constituency.

In addition, there is other significant underground cabling work of laying 33 kV double circuit cable from Porvorim substation to Saligao substation, and conversion work of overhead to underground in Cuncolim Industrial Estate.

There is also a bifurcation of Balli feeder, underground cabling at Fatorda, Porvorim under Phase I, underground cabling in Curchorem, and the conversion of overhead to underground at Anjuna under the NCRMP scheme funded by World Bank. Also, Marago industrial estate at Nessai, Cortalim feeder benefiting areas falling under Quelossim panchayat areas, and underground cabling of Netravali feeder in Sanguem are in the works.
