In an effort to revolutionize the electric vehicle landscape for three-wheelers, Montra Electric, the EV arm of Murugappa Group, has partnered with Exponent Energy, an innovative energy-tech startup. This groundbreaking partnership aims to introduce rapid charging electric three-wheelers, marking a significant leap forward in the industry. Montra Electric’s plan is to unveil a rapid-charging 3W variant that will be powered by Exponent’s cutting-edge 8.8 kWh e^pack. This exceptional vehicle will boast the remarkable ability to achieve a full charge from 0 to 100 percent in a mere 15 minutes when utilizing Exponent’s e^pump charging network. Additionally, the convenience of slow charging at home further enhances the practicality of this groundbreaking vehicle.

Exponent’s e^pack includes a 3000-cycle life warranty even with 100 percent rapid charging. This technology was independently validated by TUV India (TUV Nord Group, Germany) which reported only 13% degradation after 3000 cycles of rapid charging. Building upon its 123-year legacy, Murugappa Group’s EV venture, Montra Electric, has made a groundbreaking entry into the three-wheeler passenger category with the launch of its Super Auto. This aspirational and industry-defining product marks the commencement of Montra Electric’s expansion into the three-wheeler cargo segment, with a projected launch date set for early 2024. The company aims to cater to the diverse needs of both individual and institutional customers.

Exponent Energy has revolutionized electric vehicle (EV) charging with its innovative energy stack, enabling 15-minute rapid charging. This groundbreaking technology addresses two critical challenges that have hindered rapid charging: lithium plating and excessive heat generation. Exponent’s proprietary battery management system (BMS) and charging algorithms effectively minimize lithium plating, ensuring the longevity of their battery pack. Exponent has pioneered the world’s first “water-based” offboard thermal management system, utilizing an advanced HVAC system in the e^pump.

Mr. Kalyan Kumar Paul, Managing Director, TI Clean Mobility expressing confidence in the partnership with Exponent Energy, said, “This will be a key enabler in the Electric Adoption journey”.

Mr. Sushant Jena, Head, Montra Electric 3W Division said, “We are excited to partner with Exponent Energy to offer a 15-minute Rapid charging option to our valued customers.
