PM Modi Making India as Frontrunner in Realm of 6G Technology

At the inauguration of the 7th Edition of the Indian Mobile Congress 2023 in New Delhi, Shri Narendra Modi said that the government is making strides toward establishing India as a frontrunner in the realm of 6G technology.

Recently, the 7th Edition of the Indian Mobile Congress 2023 in New Delhi was inaugurated by Shri Narendra Modi. While addressing the audience Mr. Modi said, that the government has initiated an effort to bring 5G connectivity to every citizen. Additionally, four lakh 5G-based stations have been set up since the launch of 5G technology in the country. Mr. Modi added that these stations have covered 97 percent of the cities and more than 80 percent of the population. He said India has reached 43rd position in mobile broadband speed from the previous rank of 118.

The Prime Minister praised the efforts by the government to ensure that the benefits of development reach every class and region. He asserted that the government believes in the power of democratization in every sector. Mr Modi said technology is the catalyst that expedites the transition from a developing nation to a developed one. He said India’s semiconductor mission is progressing to fulfill not just its domestic demands but also its global requirements. Prime Minister gave an example of Google, that the company has announced the manufacturing of its Pixel phone in India underscoring that the world is using Made in India mobile phones.

Speaking on the occasion, Electronic and IT Minister, Mr. Ashwini Vaishnaw praised the contribution of Shri Narendra Modi in the last ten years towards transforming the telecom sector. He said, that today it is a sunrise sector free from scams and litigation. India’s telecom industry boasts the world’s most rapid 5G deployment and remarkably affordable data plans, remarked Mr. Vaishnaw. He emphasized the Prime Minister’s strong commitment to the telecom sector, recognizing it as the cornerstone of Digital India. Mr. Vaishnaw highlighted the remarkable achievement of exporting mobile phones worth over INR 90,000 crore last year.

Taking the stage, Mr. Akash Ambani, Chairman of Reliance Jio Infocomm Limited, talked about the Prime Minister’s dedication to empowering the younger generation through technology. He emphasized the Prime Minister’s leadership in shaping the inclusive, innovative, and sustainable future of India’s digital landscape, serving as an inspiration to millions of young minds across the nation.

Mr. Sunil Bharti Mittal, the head of Bharti Enterprises, praised the government’s “Digital India” initiative, highlighting its role in rapidly accelerating the country’s digital infrastructure development. He particularly emphasized the transformative impact of the “JAM trinity” vision. He further acknowledged the global recognition India has received for its remarkable digital transformation journey.

Chairman of Aditya Birla Group, Mr. Kumar Mangalam Birla mentioned that India is actively engaging with the development of standards for futuristic technologies in areas like 6G under the guidance of the Prime Minister.

During the program, the Prime Minister also awarded 100 5G Use Case Labs to educational institutions across the country. These labs are being developed under the 100 5G labs initiative. The 5G labs initiative is an endeavor to realize the opportunities associated with 5G technology by encouraging the development of 5G applications that cater both to India’s unique needs as well as global demands. It will foster innovation across various socio-economic sectors like education, agriculture, health, power, and transportation. The initiative is also a pivotal step for building a 6G-ready academic and start-up ecosystem in the country.
