In a recent interaction with Wire & Cable India magazine, Ms. Virushi Shah, Director, Heetu Chemicals & Alkalies, talked about her company, product portfolio, and future plans.

Wire & Cable India: Briefly introduce Heetu Chemicals & Alkalies and its core focus within the wire and cable industry.

Virushi Shah: Founded in 1991 by Mr. Vivek Shah, and now supported by the next generation- Ms. Virushi Shah, Heetu Chemicals & Alkalies Limited (HCAL) has evolved as one of the leading chemical distribution companies in India. Over the last three decades, the company has developed its core strengths in chemical distribution. Our company has an uncompromising attitude towards ethical business practices, high quality, and timely deliveries of the products we sell. We have become the foremost trusted distribution company in India, by ensuring the highest level of services, increasing the scope of our offerings, and optimizing the utilization of resources to provide to our clients. HCAL, a pioneer in the distribution of commodity chemicals and specialty chemicals, has also introduced a basket of technology and consumables in the wire & cables industry in India.

WCI: Kindly shed light on your product portfolio catering to the wire and cable industry, emphasizing on their features, applications, and advantages.

VS: The world of polymers is vast and ever-expanding. We offer a diverse range of products to companies including UV- XLPE, masterbatches, stearates, stabilizers and fillers, compounds, silicones, etc. These offerings help with higher and more efficient productivity and also lead to produce safer and greener products for the industry. We have now established ourselves in not only providing commodity products but also technology-driven products.

WCI: Please share some light on the market footprint and clientele of your company.

VS: We are distributing chemicals to the major wire & cable manufacturers and compound manufacturers of the sector. Additionally, we are supplying in the oil & gas sector, energy sector, and agro-industry. The group has traditionally serviced the industry through products like CPW, and over the past years has expanded to specialties as well.

VS: Wire and cable is a mature market in India. However, many innovations and technological advances are happening globally. Acceptance of these technologies by Indian manufacturers is the key to sustainable and qualitative productivity of the industry. The new technology also helps in reducing carbon footprint and at the same time makes production manpower friendly and cost-effective.

WCI: What are your recent developments and the company’s long-term plans for growth in the future?

VS: We have recently introduced the UV cross-linking technology (XLPE) successfully which ensures the utmost safety of cables under trying conditions. Besides that, efficiency in production and hence increased productivity, energy saving, and ease of operations, therefore reducing downtime are a few of the advantages. HCAL has also introduced masterbatches & stabilizers for the industry. We are also exploring other products for this segment and are on a continuous expansion path in the industry. We wish to ensure that the industry is fed with the best technological innovations through our equipment and consumables and try to reduce the carbon footprint and energy costs in the process as well.
