“With our technologically-advanced machinery used for production and a well-equipped testing laboratory, the compounds undergo a very strict quality control check at every stage of production from the very beginning”- Mr. Dev Bengani

Mr. Dev Bengani, Director, Fine Products Pvt. Ltd. in interaction with Wire & Cable India, sheds light on the business journey of the company, their continued efforts towards creating environmental-friendly, RoHS as well as REACH-compliant compounds, and on the manufacturing of their products.

Wire & Cable India: Could you please give us a brief outline of the business journey of Fine Products? Also, describe the significant accomplishments of the company?

Dev Bengani: Fine Products, as the name suggests, believes in transparency at all levels of its operations, be it purchase, production, sales and ensures they are carried out in a controlled manner. A young aspiring company, only 26 years as of now, certified by DNV to the prestigious ISO 9001:2015, perceives many more years of dedicated hard work to prosper and grow.

As a matter of fact, Fine Products has been distinctly redefining itself to develop some of the most advanced forms of compounds for the cable industry and these efforts shall continue. It is our continuing endeavor to meet the customer’s requirements and leave no stone unturned throughout the journey. Manufacturing and supply of quality products is our main motto and we will always adhere to this purpose.

Further, we have worked meticulously in the development of green compounds, in getting the products duly certified with RoHS as well as REACH from a reputed third-party testing lab for complete self-assurance. All of this has further encouraged us to work towards broadening our range such as adding the zero halogen flame-retardant compounds and similarly, other special, advanced composites to our array which we are sure shall be achieved in the upcoming future.

WCI: Kindly outline the product portfolio of the company and the different strengths which give it a competitive edge in the market?

DB: In the beginning, Fine Products started with developing PVC Compounds required for general purpose in cables, be it sheathing or insulation grade for power/flexible or flat cable, shoe as well as auto sector. Gradually, it ventured into the high-tech compounds required for cables, developing them for varied conditions such as low-temperature compounds (suitable for -55 degrees)/heat-resistant compounds (suitable for temperature ranging 85-125 degrees)/FRLS/UV and oil-resistant and UL-grade compounds. Lately, with the development of REACH and RoHS-compliant compounds, it certainly has made a big leap into the industry for a specialized segment and has shown a relative concern towards the environment by going green in compounds as well.

Customer’s satisfaction being the topmost priority, Fine Products never compromises on the quality and consistently undertakes research and development of new products with improvising the existing range as a regular practice.

WCI: Please present an overview of the manufacturing of your products as well as the different quality control measures followed to maintain the quality and efficiency of your product range?

DB: With our technologically-advanced machinery used for production and a well-equipped testing laboratory, the compounds undergo a very strict quality control check at every stage of production from the very beginning i.e. raw material, in-process, or the finished range at the end. Complete traceability of the process is ensured at every stage to develop high standard products with adequate finesse. A compound can be traced to its very first form of raw material and each lot upon completion is given a unique identification number which helps us to trace its very existence. Being certified by DNV to ISO 9001:2015 standards very well encourages us to maintain this decorum of quality. Very soon, we shall be adding another feather in our portfolio by getting ourselves certified with the very prestigious ISO 14000 standard, thereby, demonstrating our concern for the environment as well.

WCI: What do you think are the key trends that are influencing the growth of the PVC Compound market? What are the opportunities and challenges faced by the company in the present time?

DB: The ongoing pandemic can be termed as a major influence in any business as of now as it has brought a series of unprecedented and profound changes in the market. Prices of raw materials, at any stage, have been increased to that extent making it nearly impossible to compete in the current market scenario.

Usage of plastic is ubiquitous and to use them most efficiently should be the motto of every single person. People are gradually shifting to green compounds which are safer for the environment, but the numbers are still not many here in the domestic. Cost being one of the main factors in any operation, usage of these compounds is comparatively lower than the overseas market. Considering the depleting status of our environment, Fine Products has constantly engaged itself in developing green compounds, though building them right now is a bit expensive but we are confident that this phase of the pandemic will get over very soon and things shall be normal again. We just have to be calm and patient in these difficult times as it’s a matter of concern for the entire fraternity.
