Elon Musk is going to help restore internet facilities in the South Pacific nation Tonga after a volcanic eruption and tsunami disconnected the internet facilities over three weeks ago. According to the information shared by some officials on the matter, the repair-related works on the undersea cable are proving to be quite challenging.

The tsunami caused due to the Hunga Tonga-Hunga Ha’pai volcano had ruptured the only fiber-optic cable linking Tonga to the rest of the world. Now, in the absence of a functioning optical fibre cable, most people are left without reliable internet connections. With Elon Musk’s support, it is expected that better and reliable internet connectivity will be reinstated through a satellite option.
